You Will Not Come To Me

That is the sternest blow against free-will of which I know; what a free- willer can make out of that text, I cannot tell. He says that any man can come to Christ, yet Christ said to some, “Ye will not come to me;” and both observation and experience prove that this is still true. Never yet did a soul come to Christ till first Christ came to it.

C.H. Spurgeon

Dear Brother I have seen so many things from your end but nothing is satisfying me. I wanted to understand christianity on the face value and not like people who just get into the religion just because of worldly matters. I have not got a satisfactory response from anyone. What I understood is christianity is totally based on one sigle point and that is blood of Jesus. No crucification No christianity. Recently I heard a person asking another Christian friend of mine, what was the religion of Christ, was he a Christian if no then who are Christians...... .........

Mr. Ahmed, You understand pretty well, it seems. Christianity is tied up in the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. The only way to satisfy God's holy demands was for holy God to die as a man. God the Son died, satisfying God the Father's wrath. As evidence of the payment, God the Son resurrected three days later. If we put our faith in Christ, believing in His death and resurrection, we will be saved.

Dear Mohammed, I am going to assume that you are either a Muslim or have a Muslim background, with that in mind I am going to use Jesus' Arabic name Isa. The "religion" of Isa is that He is the Son of God and that He died on a cross to pay for the sins of mankind. He rose from the dead on the third day and has now return to God. In the Christian Scripture Isa made is very clear that He is the only way to have a relationship with the Creator God.

Read your Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to you. Pray and keep your heart pure before God. If someone says something to you (doctrinally) and it doesn't sound like a loving God, it probably isn't accurate. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. All men are lost without Christ. The Bible is clear. He came for everyone. Be careful of anyone that tries to tell you differently. Even the great preacher Spurgeon.

I think you'd have to biblically define "loving God" for your statement to be helpful. I can agree with it provided "loving God" is defined accurately. Otherwise, it's left to each individual to determine what it means. Some folks would say that a loving God would never condemn anyway to hell but obviously He does and there's nothing unloving about the fact. So not necessarily disagreeing with you just think your advice is a bit vage for someone who is seeking Christ.

I've noticed that the FB posts lately are more hyper-Calvinist in nature. I don't agree with Calvinism, but do appreciate Mr. Spurgeons' preaching, and his insight.

It's all taken from my book Through the Eyes of C.H. Spurgeon, so it's all in rotation. :)
